In Memory of Pete Heiberger
10.2024
Pete Heiberger, a long-time Northside resident, died on September 4. He is survived by his spouse, Sonni Gittelman, and five children—Zoe Graves, Katherine Heiberger, Michael Heiberger, Sam Heiberger and Ben Heiberger. Pete was a carpenter, a project manager, an artist, and a photographer. In a former life he was a moose, and in his next chapter on this physical plane he will be a sandpiper. Of the seashore and these shorebirds he once wrote: “The ocean lets us see where the edge of the world is and lets us hear its pulse. It fills in all those spaces we can only imagine. As I sit here, taking it all in, I feel rejuvenated. The sandpipers are busy with their search for sand crabs, and I cheer them on. As they fly away at lightning speed, I go with them for a few crazy, wacky moments.”
Sonni Gittelman will hold a celebration of Pete’s life on November 3 beginning at 1 pm in their home at 3606 Hermitage Road. There will be Legend Brown Ale on tap, and folks are asked to bring some food to share.
